Mar Vista Gardens Learning Community/Central HS is a community of lifelong learners who cultivate a unique and open, student- directed, healing centered, creative learning environment. Located on the grounds of the Mar Vista Gardens Housing Community, Central High School is an LAUSD public continuation school catering to students not served by traditional schools.
For over a decade, Mar Vista Gardens' students have influenced the culture of school and community safety and have fought for equity throughout Los Angeles County, most recently organizing the #StudentsNotSuspects campaign to end random searches alongside other community partners.
Some of the student-directed projects include a stop-motion movie called Monsters Not Suspects, an MOA Wellness Center Flower Workshop, workshops with Dignity and Power Now, Ammunition Theatre, ArtworxLA, Street Poets, and many more.
